OnLIVE With Composer/Author/Computer Scientist David Cope

David Cope is a composer/author/computer scientist whose work has been performed throughout the world. His work on algorithmic compositional techniques and procedures, as well as his published works on the subject, most notable The Algorithmic Composer, are landmarks in the field.

Today's show will be a bit unique as we attempt to partially 'stage' a scene from Cope's opera, Mahler.

I have had the opportunity to speak with David Cope over dinner a number of years ago. He is engaging, highly intelligent, and...are you ready for this considering he is an academic?...he is curious and inquisitive about what other people in the world are doing. It is always refreshing when one finds a teacher who values learning as much as they do teaching.

I hope will join us Monday at 4pm live on our sim, Utwig, in the main auditorium.
